About ScreenX
ScreenX is the world's first 270° multi-projection cinema format, developed by CJ 4DPLEX. Unlike a conventional movie theatre, ScreenX expands selected scenes from the main screen onto the left and right walls of the auditorium, creating a wider field of view. The format is designed to provide a more immersive experience during key moments in a film and is supported by Dolby 7.1 surround sound.
ScreenX Experience: ScreenX uses multiple projectors to extend selected scenes beyond the main screen onto the side walls of the auditorium. The expanded visuals are available only during scenes specifically created or mastered for the format, while the rest of the movie is presented on the standard front screen. This technology offers a wider cinematic presentation without changing the original story or aspect ratio of the film.
ScreenX FAQs
What is ScreenX?
ScreenX is the world's first 270° multi-projection cinema format , developed by CJ 4DPLEX . Unlike a traditional cinema that projects content only on the front screen, ScreenX extends selected scenes onto the left and right walls of the auditorium using multiple projectors. This creates a wider field of view and makes audiences feel more immersed in the movie. The format is designed for selected scenes only, while the rest of the film continues on the main screen.
How is ScreenX different from IMAX?
Although both are premium cinema formats, they offer different experiences. IMAX focuses on a larger front screen, enhanced image quality, and powerful audio. ScreenX , on the other hand, expands selected scenes onto the side walls of the auditorium, creating a 270° panoramic viewing experience . If you prefer a wider field of view and a more immersive presentation during action sequences, ScreenX offers a unique alternative to IMAX.

- INOX Quest Mall – Kolkata
- INOX Megaplex Inorbit – Mumbai

Is every scene shown in 270° ScreenX?
No. Only selected scenes are expanded onto the side walls. These scenes are carefully chosen by the filmmakers to provide a more immersive experience, especially during action, adventure, aerial shots, racing, or landscape sequences. Dialogue-heavy scenes and regular sequences are usually presented on the standard front screen.
