The ICC Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup started in 2007. The first tournament was held in South Africa. India won the inaugural title by defeating Pakistan in the final.
Since then, the tournament has been played regularly and has become one of the most popular ICC events.
So far, the T20 World Cup has been held nine times. Six different teams have won the title. India, West Indies, and England are the most successful teams, with two titles each. West Indies in (2012, 2016), England in (2010 and 2022), India in (2007, 2024), Pakistan (2009), Sri Lanka (2014), and Australia (2021) with one T20 World Cup title each.
The last ICC Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup was held in 2024 and was co-hosted by the West Indies and the USA. India defeated South Africa in the final and lifted their second ICC Men’s T20 World Cup title.
The 10th edition is currently underway, taking place from 7 February to 8 March 2026, and is being hosted by India and Sri Lanka.
