International Yoga Day 2025 Celebrations in Vizag (RK Beach Road)
Vizag Gears Up for Grand International Yoga Day 2025 at RK Beach. International Yoga Day is celebrated every year on June 21st across the world to emphasize the importance of yoga in our daily lives. Vizag was chosen as the primary location for the celebrations of the 11th International Yoga Day.
This year's International Yoga Day 2025 will be celebrated on a grand scale in the City of Destiny, Visakhapatnam (Vizag), on June 21, with the Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi gracing the event as the chief guest, along with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu other VIPs.
The theme for International Yoga Day 2025 is 'Yoga for One Earth, One Health,'. This means caring for both ourselves and the planet. The Prime Minister announced this theme during his Mann Ki Baat radio program on March 30, 2025.
The Andhra Pradesh government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu and Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) aims to set a new Guinness World Record by organizing a massive yoga session along the coastline from RK Beach to Bheemunipatnam Beach, gathering 2.5+ lakh (250,000+) participants in a single unified yoga session.
Earlier, on June 21, 2023, Surat set a Guinness World Record with 1.53 lakh participants performing yoga at a single location. Now, the Andhra Pradesh government is preparing to break that record with this large-scale event in Visakhapatnam.
To achieve this, the state government and Visakhaptanma Municpal Corporation GVMC has launched a month-long campaign titled "Yogandhra-2025" running from May 21 to June 21, to promote yoga practices across Andhra Pradesh and ensure maximum participation and preparedness.
On June 17, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu visited RK Beach in Visakhapatnam to personally review the preparations for the grand International Yoga Day celebrations.
During his visit, the Chief Minister inspected the main stage being prepared for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will also attend the event. He emphasized the importance of smooth logistics, crowd management, sanitation, and security. Later, he held a high-level review meeting with officials and public representatives to finalize arrangements.
To ensure everything runs seamlessly:
- 607 urban secretariats are coordinating with participants.
- 3.5 lakh yoga mats and 5 lakh T-shirts are being distributed.
- Toilets, medical camps, and water facilities are being set up across the venue.
- A mock yoga session is planned for June 20 to test the arrangements.
Residents and tourists can register for free through the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) website or at participating yoga centres. Early registration is encouraged to ensure the availability of yoga mats and sufficient space during the main beach event.
