The Asia Cup is a men's cricket tournament played in the One Day International (ODI) format and sometimes in the Twenty20 International (T20I) format. It features national teams from Asian countries and is organized by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).
The tournament was started in 1983 to promote friendship among Asian nations. The first edition took place in 1984. Since then, it has been held every two or four years, switching between the ODI and T20I formats.
So far, 16 editions of the Asia Cup have been held, from 1984 to the latest one in 2023.
India and Sri Lanka are the most successful teams in the tournament’s history. India is the current champion, having beaten Sri Lanka in the final of the 2023 edition.
The upcoming 17th edition of the Asia Cup is scheduled for September 2025 and will be played in the T20I format.
