UH-3H Helicopter Museum Vizag: Visiting Hours and Ticket Prices

The UH-3H Helicopter Museum in Vizag (Visakhapatnam) is one of the museum attractions on the city’s famous RK Beach Road. The name of the helicopter/aircraft is UH-3H, a Mark III Technology Utility Helicopter, which is now stationed in the museum and has served the Indian Navy for 17 years before being retired. This aircraft was used for maritime surveillance, rescue operations, and transport.

This UH-3H Helicopter Museum project was developed by the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) with an investment of about ₹3.5 crore. The land was provided by the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC).

This museum adds to the city’s growing list of defense and maritime museums, which already include the Submarine Museum (INS Kurusura), the TU-142 Aircraft Museum, the Sea Harrier Museum, and the Visakha Museum.

This museum opened to the public on 18 August 2025 and marks the fifth maritime museum in Vizag (Visakhapatnam). An interesting fact is that this is India’s only city with five maritime museums.

UH-3H Helicopter Museum Timings and Entry Fee Ticket Price:

The UH-3H Helicopter Museum in Visakhapatnam is open to visitors on all days of the week. From Monday to Saturday, the museum is open between 2:00 PM and 8:30 PM. On Sundays, it runs in two sessions, first from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM and then again from 2:00 PM to 8:30 PM. These timings make it easy for people to plan their visit during the afternoon and evening hours, with an extra morning session available on Sundays.

The entry fee is simple and affordable. Adults need to pay ₹100 for admission, while children can enter for ₹50.

The Andhra Pradesh government is promoting integrated tourism packages that connect this museum with other attractions in the city, such as Kailasagiri and the Submarine Museum.

As of February 2026, plans are being made to add interactive digital exhibits and guided tours by retired naval officers. These steps are expected to make the museum more informative and engaging, especially for younger visitors. The museum is not only a tourist attraction but also an educational space that helps people understand the role of helicopters in India’s naval operations.
